1924 – Sam Marries Sylvia Block in Los Angeles, California

On September, 18, 1923, Sam Bonar arrived in San Francisco from Sydney. A little over a year later, Samuel Bonar married Sylvia Block in Los Angeles. The wedding took place on Christmas Day, December 25, 1924. Like Sam, Sylvia (Tsivya b. Yaakov) was an immigrant, having been born in Russia in 1902 to Yankel (Jacob) Block and Tubba (Tillie) Cargan. Sylvia was 22 at the time of her marriage to Sam, who was 12 years her senior. Sam’s occupation here is listed on the marriage certificate as ‘Egg Dealer’.
